History

AXJ was born when human beings were born millions of years ago and have been populating this Planet ever since. Every human being is destined to become an AXJ Member sooner or later, where and when the time is ripe for them to do so, and not before.

As humans age they reach a time in their lives when they become aware of the need to help and care for other human beings. Many call this feeling "love" and/or "empathy", and it usually is best understood when a human being grows up in a loving family or community and feel loved and cared for. Humans tend to repeat the actions of other human beings they encounter in their lifetimes.

AXJ Members are those individuals that understand these concepts and have been called to join AXJ and help others any way they can. Some do it spiritually and others do it financially.

AXJ Members are not necessarily made up of those individuals of the 1% of the human population on this Planet, now calculated at around 8bn, but across the board. Some Members receive their calling to join AXJ early in life while others do it in their later years. Be it as it may AXJ is the only truly independent Organization that does not discriminate human beings for any reason or condition. For AXJ there is no such thing as "races", "skin color", "nationality", or other silly attempts to discriminate and divide us. We are one Race called the Human Race. Many believe other non "Human" called "Aliens" live amongst us, and if that is the case, they are welcome to join AXJ too.

AXJ is a very real Organization although some may try to deny it. AXJ is not a "religion". AXJ is not "ideology". AXJ can be considered to be a "Philosophy" in its purest Greek meaning of a "Lover of Wisdom". AXJ works for love and peace and does fight against hate and violence. AXJ protects all those "rights" that have become to be know as "Human Rights" in many legal works throughout history, and especially in those referred to in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.

AXJ Members finally decided to create AXJ as a legal entity and start publishing its news and information on the internet in 1998. With only 200 Founding Members it was off to a slow start as the internet as we know it today did not exist.

One of the major issues AXJ members encountered was discrimination in family courts when Parents separated and divorced with regards to the custody of children. In the majority of cases custody was given to the mothers and fathers were separated from their children. AXJ had to intervene in may cases and point this issue out to the Family Courts.

Since 1998 to 2018 AXJ has measured an incredible growth with over 5,000 AXJ Member run and operated independent news websites in approximately 200 countries around the world.

Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a historic document that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly at its third session on 10 December 1948 as Resolution 217 at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, France. Of the then 58 members of the United Nations, 48 voted in favor, none against, eight abstained, and two did not vote.

The Declaration consists of 30 articles affirming an individual's rights which, although not legally binding in themselves, have been elaborated in subsequent international treaties, economic transfers, regional human rights instruments, national constitutions, and other laws. The Declaration was the first step in the process of formulating the International Bill of Human Rights, which was completed in 1966, and came into force in 1976, after a sufficient number of countries had ratified them.

Some legal scholars have argued that because countries have constantly invoked the Declaration for more than 50 years, it has become binding as a part of customary international law.Henry J Steiner and Philip Alston, International Human Rights in Context: Law, Politics, Morals, (2nd ed), Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2000. Hurst Hannum, The universal declaration of human rights in National and International Law, p.145 However, in the United States, the Supreme Court in Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain (2004), concluded that the Declaration "does not of its own force impose obligations as a matter of international law." Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain, 542 U.S. 692, 734 (2004). Courts of other countries have also concluded that the Declaration is not in and of itself part of domestic law.

Structure and content

The underlying structure of the Universal Declaration was introduced in its second draft, which was prepared by René Cassin. Cassin worked from a first draft, which was prepared by John Peters Humphrey. The structure was influenced by the Code Napoléon, including a preamble and introductory general principles. Cassin compared the Declaration to the portico of a Greek temple, with a foundation, steps, four columns, and a pediment.

The Declaration consists of a preamble and thirty articles:

  • The preamble sets out the historical and social causes that led to the necessity of drafting the Declaration.
  • Articles 1–2 established the basic concepts of dignity, liberty, equality, and brotherhood.
  • Articles 3–5 established other individual rights, such as the right to life and the prohibition of slavery and torture.
  • Articles 6–11 refer to the fundamental legality of human rights with specific remedies cited for their defence when violated.
  • Articles 12–17 established the rights of the individual towards the community (including such things as freedom of movement).
  • Articles 18–21 sanctioned the so-called "constitutional liberties", and with spiritual, public, and political freedoms, such as freedom of thought, opinion, religion and conscience, word, and peaceful association of the individual.
  • Articles 22–27 sanctioned an individual's economic, social and cultural rights, including healthcare. Article 25 states: "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services." It also makes additional accommodations for security in case of physical debilitation or disability, and makes special mention of care given to those in motherhood or childhood.<ref>Template:Citation</ref>
  • Articles 28–30 established the general ways of using these rights, the areas in which these rights of the individual can not be applied, and that they can not be overcome against the individual.

These articles are concerned with the duty of the individual to society and the prohibition of use of rights in contravention of the purposes of the United Nations Organisation, Chapter 10.
